The weekend training forms part of the 2020 curriculum and studies supporting students to develop skills to work therapeutically with couples and families. Over the weekend, students will learn about the systemic nature of couple & family therapy, acquiring skills in working with the interactional patterns and cycle of relationships.
During the training, students will be given the opportunity to work with ‘real’ couples and role plays, as well as see a demonstration from the presenter. Integrating learnings from a Gestalt approach to therapy and exploring contemporary ideas on relationships, neurobiology, and attachment theory.
An exploration of complex issues will support students to understand their practice and ethical responsibilities in working with family violence, child protection, high conflict and complex trauma cases.
